Illegal entrant becomes latest Covid-19 case

VGP – The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on Saturday confirmed a Vietnamese who had illegally entered the country tested positive for Covid-19, raising the patient tally to 1,440.

The citizen, aged 32, is a male resident of Nhon Phu Commune, Mang Thi District of the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long.

He illegally entered Viet Nam on December 24. Right after he arrived at home in Vinh Long, his family reported to the local police so as to have him put into quarantine tested.

All F1 and F2 people of the case have been traced and quarantined in line with regulations.

A total of 17,107 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide.

Of the country’s patient tally, 1,303 have recovered and exited hospitals while the fatalities remain at 35./.
