Imported chemicals must attach Vietnamese labels

VGP - All imported chemical substances sold in Việt Nam must be labeled in the Vietnamese language, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

The MoIT has issued the Circular on classifying and labeling of chemical substances.

Under the Circular, labels must include the chemical's name, identity code, potential hazards, ingredients, date of manufacture and expiry date.

Information about manufacturers and importers must be added to the products.

Original labels are also compulsory in addition to the Vietnamese versions.

The Circular required that chemical substances must be classified on their material and health hazards.

The Circular will come into effect on March 30 and is expected to effectively control imported chemical substances./.
