Industrial production sees double-digit growth in May

VGP – Industrial production in May is estimated at VND 74 trillion, up 14.2% against the same period last year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

In the month, the industry witnessed 0.7% rise of employment rate, including 0.3% in State sector, 0.4% in non-State sector and 1.2% in FID sector.

This is the last month that the industrial production value is calculated on the basis of the base year of 1994. From June, the value will be demonstrated through the index of industrial production, according to the GSO.

The change is made to achieve more accurate calculation of the country’s industrial growth.
