International Choir Competition 2013 begins

VGP - The 3rd Viet Nam International Choir Competition opened in Hoi An City on June 19 with the participation of 15 choirs from nine foreign countries and territories.

The 15 choirs with a total of 500 people are from Germany, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, the United States, Myanmar and Viet Nam.

Accordingly, the choirs will compete by music form, by age with the contents including: children and youth choir, mixed choir, female choir, hymn, street international choir and Vietnamese folk song.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Minh Ca, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Province People's Committee affirmed that the Competition is a meeting of domestic and international artists for music exchange and discussion.

It is expected to enhance the friendship, solidarity and international cooperation also, he said.

In addition to the competition program, the choirs will stage performances holding up to the theme “International melody”; street Carnival “Colors of Quang Nam Heritage Festival” in Hoi An ancient town to serve local people and tourists. This activity kicks off a series of events of the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival program.

The competition will end on June 21, 2013.
