Int’l cooperation enhanced in coping with oil overflowing

VGP - The PM ratified the plan to carry out the Joint Communiqué and the Framework Program between Việt Nam, Cambodia and Thailand for cooperation in coping with oil overflowing within the Gulf of Thailand in the period from 2009 to 2015.

The plan is aimed at constructing and completing a natural resources and marine environment management system, training human resources, promoting research and development, supervising environment, finding and evaluating risks to deal with oil overflowing in the territorial waters of Việt Nam.

This plan will be carried out within six years with five tasks: (1) completing legal frame on supervising, assessing risks, coping with and overcoming consequences caused by oil overflowing on the sea; (2) building and consolidating supervision systems; (3) training and raising community awareness; (4) doing research and development for related services; and (5) boosting international cooperation in preventing and coping with oil overflowing.
