The Ministry of Transport and relevant ministries, agencies and local governments shall instruct travel companies to guarantee traffic security and safety for foreign tourists riding motorbikes to Việt Nam.

The PM’s order is a way to facilitate the development of by-road tourism in Việt Nam.

According to the Việt Nam National Administration Tourism, by-road tourism is attracting many regional countries. From 2006 to 2008, international travel companies organized nearly 200 caravans with around 3,500 vehicles of all kinds and about 11,000 turns of tourists through the border gates in Central Việt Nam.

The allowance of entry of motorbike caravans into Việt Nam is expected to create big chances for charming a large number of international tourists to the country, especially those traveling through Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and China along trans-Asia routes, the Mekong River and the East-West Economic Corridor.
