The deal was inked Wednesday by the General Secretary of the Việt Nam Red Cross and the Chief Representative of the Italian Red Cross in Southeast Asia.

It is the first project jointly carried out by the Red Cross organizations of the two countries, with a view of raising the role of women and improving their living standards by bettering their understanding of sanitation and health.

Additional training courses will be held for volunteers who can serve local Red Cross organizations.

It is reported that next year, the Italian Red Cross will keep granting Việt Nam with the same amount of aid.

Moreover, its representative revealed that in the time to come, the organization plans to launch other humanitarian projects on water supply and assistance to HIV-infected women in Việt Nam./.
