Japan’s Best Denki supermarket chain has cooperated with a Vietnamese firm to develop Best Caring supermarkets
Some 40-50 Japanese firms come to the HCM City Branch of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) each month to seek advice about doing business in Việt Nam, the branch’s Director, Mr. Kitashima Satoshi, said, noting that half of them have shown interest in the Vietnamese retail sector.

According to Mr. Satoshi, the Japanese consumption market is becoming weak, so many Japanese retailers want to expand their operations overseas, especially in Việt Nam, a potential market ranking after such large-population countries like China and India only.

He said Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises are more interested in doing business in Vietnamese localities which have good infrastructure and traffic convenience like Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province.

Some Japanese retailers and distributors, including Best Denki, Sumitomo and Denso, have operated in Việt Nam for a long time.
