Labor market in first half

VGP – Over 55,000 workers were sent abroad in the first six months of 2014, meeting 63.5% of this year’s target.

As of July 1, 2014 the number of laborers in Viet Nam increased 9.9 million against the same period in 2005. Accordingly, around 0.99 million of people found jobs each year, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.1%.

The positive outcomes stemmed from the joint efforts of workers, enterprises, State’s effective policies on employment. 

As of June, 2014, over 400,000 Vietnamese guest workers were working in over 40 foreign countries and territories.

In the first half, unemployment rate stood at 2.14% while the unemployment rate in rural area was 3.2%. 

However, the unemployment rate among the group of 15-24 year-olds remained high with 11.67% and 4.54% in urban and rural areas, respectively./.
