The NA on May 22 discussed draft amendments to the Law on Medical Insurance to address current shortcomings in the health care sector.

The draft amendments focus on regulations on compulsory medical insurance, medical insurance to households, management over medical insurance fund, lowered payment to relatives of revolutionary contributors, disadvantaged people and ethnic minority people in disadvantaged remote regions and payment to beneficiaries who get health services at higher levels by themselves.

After the three-year implementation, though the current Law on Medical Insurance regulates a specific participation in medical insurance, the compliance is still limited.

To realize the target of medical insurance for all people, it is necessary to regulate a compulsory participation of all people and the State should have policies supporting people to buy medical insurance and regulating prices of health care services.

The NA also discusses and comments on a draft resolution on votes of confidence on the holders of positions approved or elected by the NA and People’s Councils, and draft amendments to the Investment Law and the Law on Enforcement of Civil Judgments.
