Legislative cooperation enhanced between VN, Indonesia

NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng today started his official visit to Indonesia by having separate meetings with the host President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Chairman of the Indonesia People's Consultative Assembly Taufic Kiemas and leaders of the ASEAN Secretariat and the AIPA Secretariat.

In these meeting, the chief of the Vietnamese legislative body confirmed that Việt Nam always attaches importance to relations to Indonesia and considers Indonesia an important partners and a close friend in the region.

Mr. Trọng expressed his hope that Indonesia will closely work with and assist Việt Nam to fulfill its presidency of ASEAN in 2010.

He suggested the two countries early approve the Action Program to realize the joint statement on the framework for friendly and comprehensive cooperation in the 21st century and toward a strategic partnership in the near future.

The legislative bodies of the two countries should further exchange their experience and delegations in order to cement and deepen their cooperation, said Chairman Trọng.

For their part, the host leaders highly valued Việt Nam for its đổi mới achievements and showed their pleasure at the blooming friendship between the two countries for the past 55 years.

They pledged to create best conditions for enterprises of the two sides to promote investment and business activities.

Indonesia will give Việt Nam its highest assistance during the latter’s ASEAN and AIPA chairmanship, said Indonesia leaders.
