Longest bridge over Red River begins construction

VGP – Hà Nội People’s Committee on Sunday began the construction of Vĩnh Thịnh Bridge Project over the Red River.

Vĩnh Thịnh Bridge will come up on National Highway No 2C, in ring road No 5, linking Sơn Tây Township, Hà Nội with Vĩnh Tường District, Vĩnh Phúc Province.

The four-lane bridge, with the length of 5,478 m-the longest one over the Red River, is designed with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete.

The project, expected to come into operation after 36-month construction, has total investment capital of US $137 million, including US $100 million sourced from the Republic of Korea’s ODA loan.

Once completed, Vĩnh Thịnh Bridge will connect with Highway Nội Bài-Lào Cai, Hồ Chí Minh to form an integrated transport system connecting Hà Nội with the Northwestern provinces of Vĩnh Phúc, Phú Thọ, Lào Cai, Yên Bái, Tuyên Quang.
