NA Chairman meets with NA ethnic deputies

VGP - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng said he believed that the NA ethnic deputies are the core in the realization of the Party and State’s policies and directions relating to the ethnic people.

On July 29 in Hà Nội, the NA’s Council of Ethnic Affairs coordinated with the NA’s Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs to hold a meeting with 78 ethnic deputies of the 13th NA.

The meeting was attended by Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng; Former Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh; State President Trương Tấn Sang; NA Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng; NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong; Chairman of the Council of Ethnic Affairs Ksor Phước; Minister - Chairman of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Giàng Seo Phử. 

The NA Chairman said the Council of Ethnic Affairs plays an important role in realizing policies and orientations on taking care of ethnic minority people, and that Ethnic NA deputies have made active contributions to the course.

Chairman of the Council of Ethnic Affairs Ksor Phước said Việt Nam has 53 ethnic minority groups with a population accounting for 14% of the total, and the 13th NA has 78 deputies from 29 ethnic minority groups, making up 15.6% of the total number of NA deputies (500).

The 13th NA in its first session elected 40 deputies as members of the Council of Ethnic Affairs.
