The visit focused on three goals: to boost mutual understanding and trust; to speed up economic and trade cooperation between the two countries; and to promote experience sharing between the two legislatures in a good brotherhood and comradeship.

The visit was an evidence showing that Vietnamese leaders attach great importance to traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and China. NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng and the Vietnamese NA delegation were warmly welcomed by Chinese leaders as shown in talks and meetings with China's Party General Secretary-State President Hu Jintao, Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee Wu Pangguo, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin as well as working sessions at important places including big cities.
The visit helped solidify mutual political trust between the two countries, laying the foundation for the two sides to finish the land border demarcation and landmark planting in 2008 and the delineation of territorial waters within and surrounding the Tonkin Gulf in order to maintain stability in the Eastern Sea. The two countries will soon implement the cooperative project "two corridors, one economic belt" and deal with the unsolved historical issues.

The visit to China by NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng finished in great success, bringing about many practical outcomes. The two legislatures agreed to cement cooperative ties. After the visit, Vietnam's NA committees and provincial people's councils, especially the provinces sharing the common border with China, will work with their Chinese counterparts to realize the issues raised in the visit and supervise the implementation of the commitments made by leaders of the two countries, contributing to developing the bilateral relationship under the motto of "friendly neighborhood, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability, future-oriented vision" as good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners.
