The eighth session of the 12th National Assembly (NA) on November 17 passes two bills and a resolution

With 82.35% of votes, the NA approved the Bill on Consumer Protection which clearly defines consumer rights, forbidden behaviors and civil cases relating to customer protection.

Accordingly, the new law stipulates that health, life, properties, and other legitimate rights of customers are secured.

In addition, customers will be given accurate information of business organizations or individuals, as well as origins of goods and services.

Customers are free to partake in and enforce policies and procedures on customer protection and ask for compensation in case goods and services fail to meet standards, technical criteria, quality, quantity, features, and prices as proclaimed, advertised or committed by providers.

Especially, the Law creates legal corridors for customers to appeal, denounce, sue or request social organizations to protect their rights.

On the same day, the NA passed the Law on Minerals (revised) which allows auction in mineral exploitation. The Law stipulates that auctions must be transparent and ensure State budget collection.

The two laws will take effect since July 1, 2011.
