National program on mobilizing foreign aid

VGP – The Government has issued the National program on mobilizing aid from foreign non-governmental organizations to support poverty reduction and socio-economic development.

Under the program, Viet Nam will call on foreign aid to priority areas like agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, rural development, healthcare, education and training, vocational training, settlement of social issues, environment, handling of war legacy, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, urgent relief, culture, sports, and climate change adaptation.

Foreign aid will be mainly steered to mountainous and poor provinces or localities with high rate of ethnic minorities.

For rural areas, the Government encourages foreign-funded projects which contribute to the realization of its Resolution 30a/2008/NQ-CP dated on December 27, 2008 on fast and sustainable development in 62 poorest districts.

In urban areas, foreign aid will be primarily used for vocational training, handicraft development, small and medium-size enterprises, prevention and combat of HIV/AIDS and drugs and prostitution./.
