VGP – Under the planning scheme for transport development in the capital up to 2020, which was ratified by the PM on July 09, at least 15% of the city’s total land fund and a total investment sum of VND 287.8 trillion will be exploited to build transport infrastructure.

By 2020, Hà Nội will have a modern transport network

The project will be conducted in Hà Nội and some satellite cities, in a radius of 30-50km.

Accordingly, by 2020, public passenger transport is expected to meet 35-45% of the total demand, so as to reduce the percentage of motorbikes down to 30%.

Hà Nội is planning to upgrade and broaden its centripetal national roads into highways with 4-6 lanes.

The capital’s urban axes will be expanded (18 ones south of the Red River and 12 to the north).

About 150 inner-city traffic hubs will be upgraded. Some new bridges will be built across the Red River, including Nhật Tân, Hồng Hà, Mễ Sở, and Vĩnh Thịnh.

By 2020, Hà Nội will have a city railway network with five routes: Ngọc Hồi-Yên Viên-Như Quỳnh, 38.7 km long; Nội Bài-downtown-Thượng Đình, 35.2km long; Nhổn-Hà Nội Railway Station-Hoàng Mai, 21 km; Nam Hồ Tây-Ngọc Khánh-Láng-Hòa Lạc, 34.5 km; and a route linking all other four routes. There will be several bus routes.

The land fund for the transport infrastructure development will reach 13,800 ha in minimum, mainly for roads (11,500 ha) and railway (1,100 ha).
