The inward remittances came from over 4 million overseas Vietnamese, especially 400,000 guest workers in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Middle East.

More convenient and faster money transfer was attributable to the surge in overseas remittances.

The money sent home by guest workers is forecast to hit US$1.8-2 billion in 2013, equivalent to the average rate of the last seven years./.
