Permanent Deputy PM welcomes senior officials from US

The guest said that the US highly evaluates Việt Nam’s increasing status in the region and the world and wants to cement bilateral cooperation in various fields.

He took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese side’s cooperation in seeking for the US MIAs.

Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg reiterated that the US will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Việt Nam through programs and projects on clearing landmines, sharing information of Vietnamese MIAs and mitigating consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng asked the US to join hands with Việt Nam in settling war consequences, urging the two countries to promote their bilateral relations. 

Earlier, the US delegation had a working session with Defense Minister Phùng Quang Thanh and a talk with Permanent Deputy FM Phạm Bình Minh.

The two sides showed an optimistic outlook to their future cooperation in the interest of the two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, and development of Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
