PM attends Cambodian King Father’s cremation

VGP – Vietnamese high-ranking delegation led by PM Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Cambodia on February 4 to attend the cremation of Cambodian King Father Norodom Sihanouk.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung expressed the deepest sympathy over the death of King Father Norodom Sihanouk, who has strong attachment to Vietnamese people.

At his meeting with Cambodian PM Hun Sen, the Vietnamese PM stressed that Vietnamese people always remember the support and contribution of the Cambodian King Father to Viet Nam’s struggle for independence and reunification.

He promised to cooperate with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and other leaders to strengthen the two sides’ relations in the future.

The two PM also highly valued the development of the two nations’ comprehensive relationship and cooperation, especially in terms of economy, trade and investment.

The two countries successfully co-organized activities to celebrate the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012 and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Cambodia diplomatic relations.

The two PMs exchanged some measures to accelerate their relationship in the future.

The same day, PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with French PM Jean-Marc Ayrault, who also attended the cremation of the Cambodian King Father.

PM Dung confirmed that Viet Nam treasured the relationship with France and expected that the two sides will upgrade their relations to strategic partnership in 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relationship establishment.

The two sides agreed to co-organize activities in the Viet Nam-France Year 2013-2014.

They applauded the bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially trade, investment, culture, education, science and technology, energy, aeronautics and space, and transport.

PM Dung highly valued the US$340 million-Official Development Assistance (ODA) of France for Viet Nam in 2013 and hoped that French President Francois Hollande will visit Viet Nam in this year.
