PM calls for specific measures to deploy key resolutions

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung called for quick promulgation of bylaw documents guiding the implementation of the Resolutions No. 01/NQ-CP and No. 02/NQ-CP.

The Government chief made the request while presiding over the Government’s regular meeting on Tuesday.

The two resolutions, which were issued on January 7, cover key measures to direct the realization of socio-economic development and State budget estimate and to remove difficulties against production, support the market and deal with non-performing loans.

PM Dung stressed that “every ministry needs to concretize the contents of these resolutions right in the first quarter.”

Inferior levels were asked to report to the Government the barriers, especially those impeding the business circle, for timely solutions.

The PM requested the central bank to effectively control interest rates and steer credits to prioritized areas like agriculture and rural development, small and medium-size enterprises.

He also ordered inferior levels to boost administrative reform, anti-corruption, and settlement of complaints and denunciations.

Regarding the performance of the economy in January, Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh said the economy showed positive signs but big challenges still remained.

January’s consumer price index climbed by 1.25%, which should not be underestimated, he emphasized.

Trade surplus dipped to US$200 million from US$498 million a month earlier, reported the General Statistics Office.

Moreover, inventories remained high in the real estate market and surged 21.5% in industrial production, and total retail sales just climbed up 8.1%, the agency reported

Even though industrial production went up 21.1% against the same period last year, the expansion was still modest as this year’s Tet holiday falls on February instead of January.
