The two leaders expressed gladness at the fact that over the past 50 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Laos, the bilateral ties have been reinforced, broadened and deepened ceaselessly.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung said he will closely urge Vietnamese local governments, economic groups and state-owned enterprises to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation with Laos, striving to increase the two-way trade to US$1 billion in 2012 and US$ 2 billion in 2015.

On the behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people, PM Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed Laos’ accession to the World Trade Organization, and its successful hosting of important international conferences and meetings, such as ASEM 9 and the 7th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP-7).

Lao Party General Secretary-State President Choumaly Sayasone affirmed that Laos will continue to create favorable conditions to ensure schedule, quality and effectiveness of projects agreed by the two sides.

The two leaders showed their pleasure at the fine cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos in the frameworks of ASEAN, GMS, ACMECS, CLV, EWEC and other international forums.

They agreed that the two countries will continue to closely coordinate with each other to help reinforce solidarity and consensus in ASEAN, as well as maintain the block’s central role in the region.
