PM Dung: Public governance reform crucial to State administration

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung has stressed that reforms in public services and officers are always deemed the most important condition guarateeing the effectiveness and efficiency of the State administrative system of a nation.

PM Dung made the statement when addressing an opening ceremony of a conference ‘Public Administration and Governance in the Context of Regional and International Integration’ held by the Eastern Region Organization for Public Administration (EROPA) in Ha Noi on October 20.

He stated that as an active and responsible member of the international community, many important international organizations and forums, Viet Nam has been pro-actively participating in and making positive contributions to EROPA’s activities.

Reviewing the country’s renewal process during the past 30 years, PM Dung said that the country’s development is attached closely to efforts to enhance administrative and institutional reforms, which is considered as a strategic breakthrough in the country’s 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy.

He expressed his belief that the EROP will serve as a reliable venue and a bridge for countries to share and access trustworthy and practical information, as well as learning related experience from other countries through regional and international cooperative mechanisms at different levels.

The EROPA is an important and practical forum for scientists from different countries to share experience in reforming administrative services and staff and public governance while seeking measures to boost sustainable development in the region and in each country.

Established in 1960, the EROPA has 10 State-level members, including Viet Nam and other individual and organizational members majored in public administration and governance.

This is the third time Viet Nam has hosted such an event, which is expected to introduce to the international community the country’s achievements in administrative reforms, share and learn experience from other countries about administrative management, public governance and capacity enhancement for public officers.
