PM: education must serve national development

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng noted that education and training development must ensure the generation of a qualified workforce to serve the country’s economic restructuring and growth.

The Government chief made the emphasis on March 8 in Hà Nội at a meeting with the National Council for Education and Human Development. The meeting was designed to give comments to the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy and the 2011-2020 vocational training development strategy.

PM Dũng, who is also Chairman of the National Council, highlighted the significance of education and vocational training in converting the country into an industrialized and modernized one by 2020.

The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs were asked to early finalize the strategies in accordance with the orientations of the Party and State on education development and make effective proposals to lure more investments and build proficient staff.

Members of the National Council proposed the defining of long-term measures and concretization of solutions to improve teachers’ professional morales, combine scientific research and technology transfer, modernize educational facilities, reorganize tertiary education recruitment models, develop social engagement in education training and expand vocational training scale./.
