Rice export soars in January

VGP – Việt Nam exported over 485,000 tons of rice in January, a big increase compared to the preset target of 350,000-400,000 tons, according to the Việt Nam Food Association (VFA).

VFA announced that as of January 31, Việt Nam shipped over 300,000 tons of rice to Malaysia and Indonesia.

Thanks to the fast delivery of rice to Indonesia and Bangladesh, this is the first time Việt Nam exported such the large amount of rice at the beginning of the year.

VFA also forecasts that Việt Nam may ship 1.6 million tons and 2.25 million tons of rice abroad in Q1 and Q2 respectively./.
