Sailor becomes latest case of Covid-19

VGP – A 37-year-old Vietnamese man was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Monday, raising the patient tally to 1,414.

He works as a sailor of Navios Marco Polo ship that arrived at the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on December 9.

The patient is being treated at the Khanh Hoa Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Of the country’s patient tally, 1,269 have been cleared of the virus and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.

Thanks to effective measures to contain the pandemic, Viet Nam has arranged more than 220 rescue flights to bring home as many as 62,632 Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad due to Covid-19.

Effective management of the pandemic has also allowed the Southeast Asian country to have more room for economic recovery, with positive signals reported, including total trade volume of US$489 billion in the first 11 months./.
