Scientific, technological initiatives honoured

VGP - Thirty-three scientific and technological projects received the 2013 Scientific and Technological Creation Awards, the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)award and the 2013 Intellectual Property Gold Cup, at a ceremony held in Ha Noi on April 24.

The ceremony saw the presence of Politburo member and President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan, President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour Dang Ngoc Tung, representatives from relevant ministries and agencies and scientists.

The winners, including five first prizes, five second prizes, 12 third prizes and 11 consolation prizes, were selected among 86 entries sent to the organizing board.

The awarded projects are in mechanics-automation; material technology; information, electronics, telecommunications; biological applications for production and daily life; environmental protection technology and sensible usage of natural resources and energy saving and new energy usage
VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated the winners and stressed the awards have contributed to the emulation movementof scientific and technological study and innovation among scientists and technicians nationwide.

He asked the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Viet Nam Union of Scientific and Technological Associations and relevant agencies to continue to organize the 2014 competition, which should be focus on hi-tech application, environmental protection and energy saving, contributing to realizing the Party resolution on boosting scientific and technological applications.

At the ceremony, the MOST launched the 2014 Scientific and Technological Creation award.
