Secretary-General of La Francophonie to visit VN

VGP - Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from December 06-08, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

The visit will be made at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. This is her second visit to Viet Nam over the past nearly 16 months.

Mushikiwabo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwandan, was confirmed on October 12 as new Secretary-General of La Francophonie, the world community of French-speaking countries.

She is the 3rd African to take the leadership of the organization. Her predecessors were Abdou Diouf from Senegal (2003-2014) and Boutros Boutros-Ghali from Egypt (1998-2002).

Created in 1970, La Francophonie is a global community representing French-speaking countries and regions. Currently, it is formed of 88 member-states, of which 61 are full members, 27 are observers and 32 are African countries./.
