State President: VN treasures ties with Kuwait

VGP - Việt Nam, attaching importance to the friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with Kuwait, will make every effort to boost up the bilateral ties in potential fields, such as economics, trade, investment, science and technology, tourism and labor export.

Việt Nam is a trustworthy friend whom Kuwait can cement and deepen economic ties, said State President Nguyễn Minh Triết at a reception given to Mr. Ahmad Abdulla Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of Information on Monday in Hà Nội.

The State President appreciated Kuwait’s goodwill to join the Nghi Sơn oil refinery project in the northern province of Thanh Hóa and allow the State-run Việt Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to penetrate in exploring and exploiting oil and gas in Kuwait.    

The host leader also took the occasion to welcome Kuwaiti enterprises to do business in Việt Nam, particularly in petroleum, infrastructure construction, transportation and real estates.

Minister Abdulla Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah underlined that Kuwait has an aspiration for a better partnership with Việt Nam.

So far, Việt Nam and Kuwait have already established a joint committee for economic cooperation which will convene its first meeting in December.

Kuwait is considering granting scholarships for Vietnamese students.

On the same day, the Kuwaiti Minister and leaders of PetroVietnam gathered in a meeting to discuss possibilities for cooperation in such aspects as oil and gas exploration, staff training, trading in crude oil and petroleum products, and labor export.

PetroVietnam wants to shake hands with its Kuwaiti partners to develop projects on electricity and real estates in Việt Nam.
