State President wraps up Saudi Arabia tour, heads for Tunisia

VGP – At the invitation of Tunisian President Zeine Al-Abidine Ben Ali, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and his entourage on April 12 (local time) started a day-long official visit to Tunisia.

This is the first official visit of a Vietnamese head of state to the Tunisian Republic.

The official welcoming ceremony is scheduled to take place later on April 12 (local time) at the Presidential Palace in Tunis.

In the morning of April 12, before successfully concluding his official visit to Saudi Arabia, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết visited Ras Tanura Refinery in Dammam, the capital of the Eastern Province.

Earlier, on April 11 (local time), the Vietnamese State President delivered a speech at Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Council.

Việt Nam fully supports the Arab Peace Initiative and seeks improved ties with the Gulf countries, notably Saudi Arabia, said President Triết.

The Vietnamese Head of State also underlined Việt Nam’s full support to stability and peace in the Middle East and its determination to make a significant contribution to regional and international peace and security. 

On the same day, State President Triết received the host Ministers of Finance, Agriculture, and Commerce and Industry who suggested the governments of Việt Nam and Saudi Arabia early ink an agreement on investment encouragement and protection.
