To strengthen VN-China bilateral cooperation

VNGOVNet – Deputy PM, Chairman of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee (VCBCSC) Phạm Gia Khiêm presided over on March 6 a meeting of the Vietnam Committee as a preparatory part for the 2nd VCBCSC meeting scheduled to be hold in October 2007.

At the meeting, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm highlighted the importance of the VCBCSC in the macro direction and coordination over the Vietnam-China relationship, increasingly deepening the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries in a practical and effective way. He prompted the Committee members to do preparatory work for a fruitful 2nd VCBCSC meeting.

The meeting listened to and discussed the report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Vietnam-China cooperation over the past time and working orientations in the coming time; and the report by the Ministry of Planning and Investment on implementing the Project "Two corridors, one economic belt" between the two countries.

To end the meeting, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm concluded and approved the orientations to design the Performance Statutes of the Vietnam Committee promulgating functions and duties of every member as well as the working regime of the Committee. He also delivered his opinions on the preparations for the 2nd VCBCSC meeting, focusing on the realization of economic and commercial agreements gained by the two countries during the visit to Vietnam by Chinese Party General Secretary-State President Hu Jintao in November 2006 and on the fulfillment of the border demarcation and marker planting in 2008 as negotiated by leaders of the two countries.
