Turkish woman becomes latest Covid-19 case

VGP – A Turkish woman was confirmed the latest case of Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the patient tally to 1,411.

The woman, aged 40, flew from Turkey to Ha Noi-based Noi Bai International Airport on December 17 on flight TK6570.

She is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The same day, three more patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total recoveries to 1,269.

So far, Viet Nam has confirmed 35 Covid-19 deaths.

The nation has pursued the dual goal of pandemic containment and economic recovery while joining the vaccine research and development race.

At present, four vaccine are under development by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC, the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC), Vaccine and Biological Production Company No. 1 (Vabiotech) and the Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals (Polyvac).

The Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC became the first local vaccine producer to have started phase one human trials since December 17 after recruiting 60 volunteers.
