US enterprises encouraged to VN

The meeting was attended by over 80 representatives of many American enterprises which are operating or will do investment in Vietnam, including Citibank, Ford, Motorola, Microsoft, Chesterton, delegates from foreign embassies and international organizations in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm introduced Vietnam’s policies on development, the relationship, cooperation and investment between the two countries over the past time. In 2006, the total two-way turnover reached US$  9.7 billion. Vietnam’s export value to the US was US$ 8.8 billion. Last year, the US was the fourth biggest investor in Vietnam with 47 projects of the registered capital of US$ 640 million. Vietnam has been encouraging foreign investors, including those from the US, to do business in Vietnam. The Deputy PM hailed the contributions made the American business community to the normalization and development of the Vietnam-US relationship.

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm also answered many questions raised by the American enterprises concerning investment and business environment, development of securities market, export of textiles and garments, and the possibilities for enterprises to take part in big infrastructure projects.
