Viet Nam Stands Ready to Assist Cambodia in COVID-19 Fight, Health Minister Says

VGP – Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long affirmed Viet Nam stands ready to support Cambodia’s ongoing response to COVID-19 as the neighboring country reported a surge of new infection cases over the past days.

During his online meeting with Cambodian Minister of Health Mam Bunheng on Thursday morning, Nguyen said Viet Nam could send doctors and experts to Cambodia to discuss with local counterparts on best treatment practices.

The Government of Viet Nam has decided to donate 800 ventilators, two million medical masks, and 300,000 N95 masks to Cambodia, announced Nguyen, adding that these medical supplies would be transported to Phnom Penh soon.

Nguyen took the occasion to share Viet Nam’s experience in containing the pandemic, in which mobilization of all political system and people in COVID-19 prevention and response is of significant importance.

All treatment facilities are interconnected to allow doctors to share experience and conduct consultations to seek the best treatment regimens for patients with serious health conditions, according to Nguyen.

The two ministers agreed that both countries will strengthen pandemic prevention and control works, especially at border provinces as illegal immigration remains complicated./.
