Vietnamese, Russian Defense Ministers hold phone talks

VGP – Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang and Russian counterpart Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu affirmed both countries treasure the history of the bilateral relationship, during their phone conversation on June 11.

Building on such background, the two defense ministers vowed to work together to nurture and advance the long-lasting traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia.

They agreed that the two ministries have effectively implemented high-level agreements and cooperation contents through making joint efforts, working out specific cooperation plans/programs, and bringing into full play of the exisiting cooperation mechanisms.

The sides agreed on a range of priority areas for the upcoming time, including training, multilateral activities hosted by the Russian defense ministry, COVID-19 prevention and control, scientific research within the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Center, and cooperation between the General Political Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army and the Directorate for Political-Military Affairs of the Russian Armed Forces.
