Vietnamese students abroad warned of flight scams

VGP – Vietnamese students studying overseas are advised to directly contact Viet Nam’s diplomatic representative agencies if they expects to return home, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) said.

The ministry suggested they should be cautious of organizations and entities that collect deposits to arrange flights to Viet Nam in the name of Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies.  

All Vietnamese citizens learning abroad need to seriously follow epidemic prevention and control measures of the host countries as well as recommendations and guidelines by Vietnamese representative agencies.

The number of overseas Vietnamese students in European countries and the U.S. remains highly at about 190,000. 

As the EU and the U.S. have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, a number  of Vietnamese students there expressed their wish to return home. 

The effort to repatriate Vietnamese citizens from abroad is being carried out under the direction of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc in the context of commercial air routes between Viet Nam and other countries being suspended.

Children under 18, the elderly, the sick, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds will be prioritized./.
