In November 2010, Viettel won a license to provide mobile phone services in Mozambique to 80% of its population. Earlier, the country had 2 mobile phone operators, namely Mcel and Vodacom.

Viettel will put into operation nearly 1,000 BTS in all 11 cities and provinces of Mozambique by the end of this year.
