There are more and more threats affecting the future of Asia and the world, said Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải while delivering his speech at the 17th International Conference on The Future of Asia held in Japan on May 26.

“At present, we are talking about food and energy security. We will have to shift focus to far-reaching issues like climate change as well as sea level rise,” the Deputy PM said, adding that Asia is forecasted to be mostly vulnerable to both traditional and non-traditional threats.

He suggested that Asian countries would conduct vigorous policies and learn from international experiences.

Specifically, Việt Nam was one of those pioneers to joining climate change response activities, international conventions, and regional cooperation forums like the ASEAN, APEC, ASEM, said Mr. Hải.

According to the Deputy PM, Việt Nam appreciated the attempts of developed countries, including Japan, for supporting developing nations via the initiative entitled “A decade toward the green Mekong.”
