VN attends Asia-Pacific aid for trade meeting

VGP - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Cẩm Tú attended the third regional meeting on aid for trade, themed “Aid for Trade Initiative: The Asia-Pacific Experience”, opened on June 14 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The meeting was jointly held by the Indonesia Ministry of Trade in coordination with the World Trade Organization and the Asian Development Bank.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade hailed the event as a good opportunity for countries to review the status and effectiveness of trade assistance in the Asia-Pacific region, and share experience in accessing and distributing trade assistance.

Mr. Tú introduced to the participants important trade assistance programs being implemented in Việt Nam, such as the Mekong-sub Region Economic Cooperation Program, the EU-Việt Nam Multilateral Trade Assistance Project

He stressed that Việt Nam has highly appreciated the role of aid for trade in its development progress.

The meeting’s delegates focused on discussing trade assistance measures that will help boost exports of goods and services of Asian-Pacific countries.

The aid for trade can help developing countries strengthen exports and integration in the multilateral trade system and at the same time benefiting from free trade and wider access to markets.
