VN boosts economic ties with one of largest African trade partners

VGP – Nigeria is one of Viet Nam’s largest trade partners in Africa with two-way trade turnover of US$ 460 million. However, there are wide doors for the two countries to tap the cooperative opportunities.

Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue attended the Viet Nam–Nigeria trade-investment seminar in Abuja on October 30. The event drew the attendance of leaders and representatives from about 110 Nigerian enterprises.

Mr. Hue praised the historical significance of the event, expecting it to spur trade linkages between the two business circles in the coming time. 

He expressed the pleasure to witness Nigeria’s tremendous achievements in becoming the second largest economy in Africa and the first one in the Western Africa.

The Deputy PM briefed Nigerian enterprises about the socio-economic development indicators in Viet Nam. 

Viet Nam always respects for the relations with African traditional countries in general and Nigeria in particular, said Deputy PM Hue.

The two-way trade turnover grew rapidly from US$ 288 million in 2014 to US$ 460 million in 2014. 

Mr. Hue took the occasion to invite Nigerian enterprises to attend an upcoming expo in HCMC next month and send business delegations to Viet Nam for investment promotion. 

He also revealed that the Vietnamese Government would consider the launching of a direct air route to connect Ha Noi or HCMC with Nigeria in the coming time./.
