VN, Denmark agree to double trade value

VGP – Viet Nam and Denmark have agreed to boost the strategic partnership in the fields of climate change adaptation, environmental protection, green growth and double the two-way trade turnover to US$1 billion in the coming time.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Danish counterpart Helle Thorning Schmidt reached the aforesaid agreement during their talks in Ha Noi on November 8.

Danish PM Helle Thorning Schmidt spoke highly of  Viet Nam’s achievements of the renewal process as well as its rising role in the region and the world.

Denmark expects to beef up multi-faceted relations with Viet Nam, particularly in the fields of green growth, renewable energy, shipping, petroleum, climate change adaptation, affirmed the Danish PM.

She also hoped that both countries would enhance coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums.

PM Dung took the occasion to thank the European country for its valuable assistance to Viet Nam during the past struggle for national unification and the current cause of socio-economic development.

The Vietnamese Government chief also hailed Denmark’s support for Viet Nam’s prioritized projects  on water supply, waste water treatment, environmental protection, vocational training, poverty reduction.

Regarding regional and international issues of common concern, PM Dung asked Denmark to continue advocate Viet Nam to strengthen relations with the European Union (EU).

As the country coordinator for ASEAN-EU relations, Viet Nam pledges to push up ASEAN-EU cooperation in general and between ASEAN and Denmark in particular, PM Dung stressed.

Meanwhile, the Danish PM affirmed that her country advocates the settlement of disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures and in accordance with international law.

He went on to say that Denmark will proactively accelerate the relations between the EU and Viet Nam following the signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA).

After the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing ceremony of agreements on business renovation, energy and petroleum.
