VN, Denmark plants important milestone in bilateral ties 

VGP – During a state-level visit to Việt Nam, Queen of Denmark Margrethe II on November 2 in Hà Nội met with State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

Right after the welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết met for an exchange of views with Queen Margrethe II.  

Applauding the visit of the Danish royal family, State President Triết expressed his gratitude to Denmark for the support and encouragement to Việt Nam in the struggle for national independence and the cause of national construction. Especially, the valuable source of ODA provided by Denmark in the areas of poverty reduction and infrastructure construction is of great significance, commented the host leader.

The State President hoped that ministries and agencies of the two countries will boost up linkages, especially in the area of economics for the sake of their respective peoples.

Queen Margrethe II lauded achievements recorded by Vietnamese people in the economic renovation, poverty reduction and response to the global crisis. 

Meanwhile, her husband, Prince Henrik stated that Denmark is willing to shake hands with Việt Nam in IT, light industries, culture exchange and climate change mitigation and adaptation. 

Việt Nam, one of the world’s worst affected countries by climate change, strongly advocates the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP 15) next month, said the Vietnamese Head of State.

On the same day, Queen Margrethe II met with NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng who asserted that the Queen’s visit marks an important milestone in the friendly cooperative ties between the two peoples. 

Queen Margrethe II highly spoke of the role of Việt Nam’s National Assembly and the significance to strengthen exchanges of parliamentary delegations and law-making experience.
