By 2020, 24 highways, 2,381km long in total, will have been constructed

According to the master plan, by 2020, 5.5 billion passengers and 760 million tons of goods will have been transported. Around 2.8-3 million automobiles are supposed to run in the system.

Means of public transport, especially buses, will be widely popularized in urban centers, such as Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City, in order to minimize private vehicles, reduce traffic jams, and guarantee traffic safety.

At the same time, a system of 24 expressways of 2,381 km in total length will be constructed and put into operation by 2020.

Local transport network will be upgraded to meet the requirements of rural industrialization and modernization and connect itself with the national system.

By 2030, the road traffic infrastructure will have been fundamentally modernized while new highways, urban roads and belt roads are built.
