VN, France set roadmap for strategic partnership

VGP – Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius have agreed upon the content and a roadmap to lift up the relations between Viet Nam and France to strategic partnership during their talks in Ha Noi on Sunday.

Both FMs shared the view that bilateral traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation have seen positive developments in recent time, and focused on concrete measures to gain more in the time to come.

While exchanging views on international and regional issues of common concern, the two FMs affirmed their continual and close cooperation at regional and international forums.

FM Laurent Fabius, who is now on an official visit to Viet Nam from August 3-5, voiced his country’s support for settling the East Sea disputes through peaceful means in line with international law to ensure peace, stability and development in this important area.

He also expressed his delight at the recent postive changes between ASEAN and China in a bid to build a Code of Conduct.

France advocates Viet Nam’s bid to boost ties with the European Union meanwhile Viet Nam supports France in enhancing relations with ASEAN./.
