The poverty rate dropped from 22% in 2005 to 9.45% in 2010, said the latest MOLISA’s report that was published on December 30 in Hà Nội.

The report also mentioned that in some localities, such as Đà Nẵng, Hồ Chí Minh City and Bình Dương, no poor households are existing at the poverty standard set up in 2006.

In 62 poorest districts in the country, the percentage of poor households reduced from 47% in 2008 to 37% in late of 2010.

The result was attributed to the Government’s incentive measures aimed at helping the poor get out of poverty, namely helping poor households get access to preferential credit loans, holding free-of-charge vocational training courses for poor people, granting healthcare insurance cards to the poor, etc.

The Government will soon issue a resolution for sustainable poverty reduction in the 2011-2020 period./.
