VN, Laos hold second foreign ministry level consultation

This is an important mechanism which helps boost bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the context that ASEAN Community will be established by the end of this year, said Deputy PM, FM Minh.

Meanwhile, the Lao Deputy PM, FM emphasized the necessity of regular information exchanges between the two foreign ministries amid fast and complicated changes in the region and the world.

The two sides noted with pleasure that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos have been developing well in all fields.

Both sides agreed to urge relevant ministries and agencies to make thorough preparations for the upcoming 38th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee.

They also agreed to effectively deploy the newly signed cooperation documents on trade and transport; soon complete negotiations on a Protocol on the borderline and border markers as well as an agreement on border management regulation for signing by this year’s end.

Highly valuing the official inauguration of the “one door-one stop” model at the Lao Bao- Densavan international border gate last February, the two nations agreed to continue measures to effectively operate this model.

The two Deputy PMs discussed on regional and international issues of common concern, including the East Sea issue.

They agreed to further strengthen coordination and cooperation at regional and international forums, especially ASEAN; coordinate with other ASEAN member countries to maintain common position and voice of ASEAN in strategic issues in the region.

Deputy PM, FM Minh affirmed that Viet Nam will closely cooperate with and support Laos to successfully fulfill the ASEAN Presidency Year in 2016.

The same day, on behalf of the Government of Viet Nam, Deputy PM, FM Minh handed over specialized equipment to help Laos host the ASEAN Presidency Year./.
