VN, Laos seek ways to beef up trade

VGP – Việt Nam and Laos have agreed to grant preferential tax for both sides’ businesses in a bid to raise bilateral trade volume to US $2 billion by 2015.

It was part of the agreement inked between Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Thành Biên and his Lao counterpart Khemmani Pholsena on Friday in Vientiane.

Under the agreement, the two sides also agreed to put forth the expansion of the list of commodities enjoying preferential tax to the two countries’ leaders for approval.

A planning scheme for the development of a border market network toward 2020 will be jointly considered and developed by the two countries in the time to come, according to the agreement.

Another planning scheme for border trade development in 2012-2030 will also be designed.

A trade fair will be held this year in Laos as part of a series of events of this kind which is expected to take place in different Lao localities in the future.
