VN, Mexico agree to cooperate on environment

VGP – On the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP16) in Cancun, Mexico, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Trần Hồng Hà met with his Mexican counterpart Fernando Tudela.

The two sides acknowledged the two countries’ similarities and potentials for further cooperation in management of natural resources and environment.

Mr. Tudela suggested the two sides continue discussions to institutionalize the bilateral linkages, especially in such areas as management and planning of land use, water, afforestation, and environment protection.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Trần Hồng Hà proposed the signing of a ministerial-level agreement in order to boost cooperation on environment protection.

Finally, the two sides expressed their confidence that the better bilateral ties would serve international efforts for environment protection and climate change mitigation./.
