VN, NZ agree to lift up ties to new height in 2020

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern have agreed to lift up Viet Nam-New Zealand relationship to “new height” in 2020.

The agreement was reached during their meeting on the sidelines of the 35th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.

Both sides discussed ways to beef up bilateral cooperation across various fields like trade, agriculture, finance-banking, education, climate change adaptation.

Regarding multilateral and regional cooperation, the pair agreed that the two countries will further strengthen cooperation within ASEAN, APEC, ASEM, Mekong Sub-region among other mechanisms.

They also underlined the need to ensure peace, security, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea and to settle differences through peaceful measures with respect for international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea./.
