VN welcomes a Korean peninsula of peace and stability

VNGOP - Việt Nam always supported the policy of non-nuclearization on the Korean peninsula, and hopes for a Northeastern Asia of peace, stability and development, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Dũng said on October 4.

The Spokesman made the statement in reply to a correspondent's query about agreements reached at the October 3 six-party talks on nuclear on the Korean peninsula and the Joint Declaration released by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on their relations development and peace, prosperity" at the end of the Inter-Korean Summit.

He stressed that Việt Nam applauded and greatly appreciated the positive results of the six-party talks, considered this as an important step on the process to a completely nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

Mr. Lê Dũng said "Việt Nam also highly values the result of the second Inter-Korean Summit. This is a positive and important step in the roadmap of improving and developing the relationship between the two Koreas towards the goal of building a durable peace on the Korean peninsula."

"Việt Nam hopes that the implementation of the results reached at the Inter-Korea high level talks will contribute to speeding up reconciliation, cooperation, and the maintenance of peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the region," the Spokesman confirmed.

He went on to say "Việt Nam has always hoped that peace and stability would be on the Korean peninsula and supports the use of dialogue to settle the issues that lead to the Korean people's aspiration for peace and national reunification being realized."
